The Department has excellent infrastructure for teaching and research. It is configured with a UG laboratory, PG laboratory, 2 Research Laboratories, Central Instrument rooms, five class rooms. The Department is equipped with an Interactive boards and can offer live lectures. The department has up-to date configured computers with internet facility. We have experienced faculties with Doctorate Degree and NET, SLST qualified who lead vigorous and innovative research programs in the field of Environmental Microbiology, Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Marine microbiology. The department houses, apart from regular and routine bacteriological equipments, advanced instruments such as Gel-Doc System, Fermented and High speed refrigerated centrifuges, laminar air flow stations, cold room, BOD & COD incubators, PCR thermo-Cycler, Phase Contrast Microscope and Electrophoresis facilities. There has been the effective separation of Laboratory and Non-Laboratory Zones. The department has signed MoU’s with National and International institutes.

 

The Department regularly hosts research talk’s seminars and offers Consultancy services. The Department is actively involved in the activities related to The Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), The Indian Science Congress Association, Indian Association of Applied Microbiologists (IAAM), Indian Immunology Society (IIS), The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) and Biotechnology Society of India (BSI).
