It is focused to conduct Quality Research with integrity and focus on the outcomes of research as a Patent, Product, Process, Incubation Centre, New Gen IEDC Project, Seed Money Project or a publication in top ranking Journals. This will support the research performance and improving the reputation of the individuals, institution and NGI at large. This guidance will help the researchers to prepare research documentations and support the academic research.

The purpose of the Research Policy is to develop Research Atmosphere and Culture among faculty and research scholars in Nehru Arts and Science College. The Research Policies divided into two criteria 1) AcademicResearch Policy 2) External and Internal Research Policy.

  • All eligible members of faculty (without doctoral degree) must register for doctoral program within 6 months / upcoming session from the date of appointment.
  • The existing faculty, who have not registered for Ph. D. most register for the same in the upcoming session.
  • Faculty publication in either WEB of science or SCOPUS indexed journals and Book publications are appreciated with appropriate incentives.
  • All publications and research papers of faculty have to go through plagiarism check by the Research Expert Committee, constituted internally.
  • Staff shall be allowed to attend Conferences / Seminars / Meetings for which the Institution may bear the expenses of Registration or Conference fees, travelling and daily allowances / accommodation and boarding charges subject to the approval of the Principal.
  • All Post Graduate Research Projects (All streams) shall lead to at least one research publication in a High Indexed National Journal.
  • All Graduate Research Projects (Star Departments and all streams) shall lead to at least one research publication in our College Journal (Nehru e-Journal).
1. Publication Incentive Norms
  • Affiliation must be Nehru Arts and Science College.
  • Applicable only for papers published in Science Citation Index (SCI) Journals / Web of Science/ Scopus Indexed/ UGC Referred Journal.
  • Faculties are advised to publish Joint Research Papers with experts from Leading Institutes / Industries.
2. National Conference/ Seminar
  • Registration fees maximum up to Rs.2, 000/-and TA/DA shall be reimbursed (Once in a calendar year), if a Research Paper is Presented or Published.
  •  If faculty member wants to attend second time in a calendar year then registration fees maximum up to Rs.1000/-and TA/DA shall be reimbursed.
3. International Conference/ Seminar
  • Within India: Faculty member can attend such conference once in a calendar year, Registration fees maximum up to Rs.5,000/-and TA/DA will be paid, only if the Research Paper is Accepted for presentation.
  • Outside India: Faculty members can attend such conference once in three years. Full registration fees and 50% Air Travel expenditure shall be reimbursed. DA will be paid as per UGC guidelines based on specific country visited only for the days of travelling to and fro and conference day(s),only if the Research Paper is accepted for presentation.
4. Research Guidance
  • 1. The research guides, who are guiding M. Phil. /Ph. D. Scholars, are rewarded with 20% of the annual fee paid by the Research Scholars each year.
  • 2. A Research Guide must have minimum 03 Scholars to get this benefit.
  • 3. Members of the Faculty with Ph. D. must apply for guide ship and obtain the same within 03 months from the date of the circular, fulfilling all the stipulations of the corresponding University.
  • 4. Members of Faculty who have applied for Qualification approval or Guide ship must obtain it from the affiliating University within one month.
SPONSORED AND INTERNAL RESEARCH RELATED POLICY
  • a) Every eligible Faculty/ Department must apply for Incubation Facility under NGI.
  • b) Every doctorate shall apply for a minimum of one funded project from State / National funding agencies.
  • c) To motivate the research aptitude among faculties seed money will be provided by the Institution for internal projects.
  • d) All the eligible faculty/department must apply for Seed Money Projects one in each semester.
  • e) The Institution will provide the basic infrastructure required to conduct either internal funded or external funded research.
  • f) Faculty are encouraged to identify inter-disciplinary research in their chosen field of research.
  • Principal investigators will be rewarded with 2% of the Received Fund by the management upon submission of Utilization Certificate (UC).
GUIDELINES TO RESEARCH GUIDES

Attendance Requirements for the Candidates Pursuing M. Phil. and Ph.D., Programmes

  • (a) Candidates admitted to full-time M. Phil. and Ph. D., programmes shall secure a minimum of 75% attendance (75% attendance every year in case of Ph. D.), including short-term training programmes, workshop, seminar, conference, etc., attended by them on the recommendation of the supervisor and with the prior permission from Principal. The attendance shall be calculated year-wise.
  • (b) Part-time M. Phil. and Ph. D. candidates shall report to the supervisor at least thirty days in a year. This period may include public and other holidays.
  • (c) If there is a shortage in attendance for a candidate due to availing of leave on medical grounds, his / her minimum period of research shall be extended accordingly within the prescribed maximum period.
  • (d) The scholars shall be permitted to do research outside the College with prior approval from the principal through research guide by submitting the on duty form.
  • (e) The scholars should follow the hierarchy for any clarification related towards research and submission of synopsis and theses.

All the above mentioned points must be considered important for the API (Annual Performance Index) Score.

Regular Salary and Increment will be strictly subjected to API Score.

It is never compulsory that all Members of Faculty must do everything stipulated above. But each one must show their proficiency at least in one said area, like PATENT, RESEARCH PUBLICATION, FUNDED PROJECT, SEED MONEY PROJECT, INCUBATION CENTRE etc.
