Literary Parade and English Expo’20 on 11.02.2020

The Department of English invited Dr. M. Ashitha Varghese, an eminent personality, to address the students and faculty. She expressed her insight in literature and insisted on thinking deep on all we read; this would develop real understanding of the actual idea of the writer as well as make the reader more benevolent towards what is taught to him.The programme started with a welcome speech by Dr. R. Malathi, Head, Department of English. Principal Dr. B. Anirudhan addressed the students and encouraged them towards academic growth and articulated his love for Literature. The Literary Parade was the showstopper, where a grand finale of characters from Shakespeare’s plays walked on the ramp showing all vigour of his Drama.Students experimented with multifarious and interesting activities and Projects. All such activities are aimed at enriching the literary and language skills of the students.

Outcome of the Event

This Event created fondness for Language and enhanced their desire to delve into literature available in plenty for them. Students started appreciating different types of literature, increased their knowledge on writers, literary figures, classics as they showcased their work.

Live Telecast

The Department of English initiated to organize Swayam Prabha Dth Channel Live Telecast in A Block seminar hall on 30th January 2020. Dr. G.Amith Ruth facilitated the session on Middle English Period which is of 29 minutes 30 seconds in the Channel 01: VAGEESH: CEC/UGC : Humanities -1 Language & Literature. Middle English Language and Literature with its grammar and various changes in spelling and pronunciation were explained. Students of B.A. English programme were interested to be the part of this event. Prof. Merin Simi facilitated the session on English before Chaucer which is of 29 minutes 17 seconds in the Channel 01: VAGEESH: CEC/UGC : Humanities -1 Language & Literature. English grammar and literature before Chaucer was being taught in an elaborate way. Students of M.A. were excited to listen to the session.
