Webinar on “Learning Methodologies” on 29.9.20

The Department of IT & CT conducted a Webinar on “Learning Methodologies” on 29.9.20 through google meet for IT & CT students. The session was handled by Dr. R. Moses Daniel, Principal, Nehru College of Management, Coimbatore. 160 students actively attended the webinar. The objective was to make them understand about learning as a cognitive process of acquiring skill or knowledge, the process of acquiring new knowledge or modifying existing knowledge, or modifying behaviours, skills, values, and preferences. The 5 stages of Learning like Unconscious incompetence, Conscious incompetence, Conscious Competence, Unconscious Competence, Conscious unconscious Competence were orated and finally, learning styles like Verbal, Visual, Musical/Auditory, Physical/Kinaesthetic, Logical/mathematical, Social, Solitary, and Combination were expounded. In learning techniques – MURDER (Mood, Understand, Recall, Digest, Elaborate and Review) concepts were elucidated.

Outcome of the Event:

The event was stimulating and informative. It helps the students to make them access about their Learning Styles and helps to know about the learning techniques like SQ3R (Survey, Query, Read, Recall and Review. The current learning methodologies will place the students at the center of this process and make them the protagonists of discovery, rather than just passive information receivers. It helps to improves understanding, information retention and in developing higher-order cognitive skills.
