The department has organized National Webinar in the title “Trends of Cybersecurity and Opportunities” on 22/07/2021. Dr. N. Kavitha, Associate Professor and Head welcomed the gathering. Dr. B. Anirudhan Principal presided over the program. Dr. K. Selvavinayaki, Dean, School of Computational Sciences has given felicitation. The Resource Person Ms. Anuradha Thota has started the session by introducing the concept of cyber security. She explained the concept of Pegasus spyware and how it works. She discussed some of the terminologies related to cybercrime like malware, Emotet, Denial of Service, Man in the Middle, SQL injection, Phishing etc. She also discussed the damage caused by Ransomware that threatens to publish or blocks access to data or a computer system.
Different threats like cloud threat, Authorization, authentication Extended detection and Response (XDR) were also discussed. Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) is the only way that provides controlled access to resources reducing the surface area of attack. She gave awareness on cybersecurity technologies like Context Aware Behavior Analytics, Hardware Authentication, Artificial Intelligence, Block Chain Technology and virtual dispersive networking (VDN). She also discussed on United State Employment Statistics happened between 2019 and 2017.Dr. D. Vimal Kumar, Organizing Secretary thanked the Resource Person and participants.
The participants came to know the various concepts of Cybersecurity threats and opportunities. Participants also learnt many new terminologies related to cyber security with real-time examples.
