Social Awareness Programme On “Promotion Of Khadi Products” On 09.10.2020

The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised an Social Awareness Programme on “Promotion of Khadi Products” on 09.10.2020 for 56 Participants (including staffs and students of NASC). M s. Vijayalakshmi Ravi, Assistant Professor, Department of Leather Design, NIFT, Chennai acted as a Resource person. She explained the students that Khadi movement that was initiated by Mahatma Gandhi not only to promote the rural self-development but also to reduce dependency of India on other countries. She oriented students with the growing initiatives of Khadi and its production. She also shared various schemes implemented by Khadi and Village Industries Commission and acquainted the students with the importance of Khadi in India.

Outcome

The Programme was an attempt made to create the awareness about khadi among youth and also to promote khadi as a fashion fabric. The participants gained insights about Khadi which is very closely associated with India’s freedom movement and imposes that it’s a matter of pride for every Indian. Students Understood that khadi can no more be neglected and it is soon becoming a fashion symbol. Best Regards
