International Workshop:Artificial Intelligence with Machine Learning Using Python | 02/02/2021

The Computer Science Department organized an International Workshop in the title Artificial Intelligence with Machine Learning Using Python, Dr. N. Kavitha, Associate Professor and Head Department of Computer Science honored and welcomed the gathering. Chief Guest Mr. K. Ashique, Manager of AI/Data Science Practices, OCS Infotech LLC, Oman has enlighten the scholars, students and member of faculty by discussing the basic concepts in Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Machine learning and Data Science. He discussed various Python commands along with machine learning project life cycle. He also narrates different applications of AI and DS in business sectors like healthcare and manufacturing. A medical dataset has been taken and executed in Python using jupyter to predict whether a patient is affected by diabetes. Dr. D. Vimal Kumar, Associate Professor thank the chief guest and the participants.

Outcome of the Event:

The training given by the resource person creates initiative to learn and gain knowledge in python programming along with its libraries. It also motivates the Research Scholars, students and faculties in extracting the dataset and how to check the errors and execute. The overall session was very informative and interactive.

DBT Star College Scheme – Online Workshop On “Wireshark – A Network Protocol Analyser”

The session begun by giving the introduction about IP Address and Network layers. The presentation session gives a concise knowledge of WireShark platform and how it is used for network troubleshooting, analysis, software and communications protocol development, and education. WireShark can also be used to intercept and analyze encrypted TLS traffic.

Outcome of the Event:

This workshop gives a basic knowledge of network interface controllers into network troubleshooting. It aims to understand network traffic analyzer software analyze network traffic in real time. WireShark comes with graphical tools to visualize the statistics. The main focus of this tool is observing the data traffic within a network. This made it easy to spot general trends and to present findings to less-technical management. The overall session was very informative and interactive.

Webinar On Trends And Application In Data Mining Techniques

 The webinar on “Trends and Application in Data Mining Techniques” was organized on 02.11.2020 through the online platform Google Meet at 2.00 PM. Dr. N. Kavitha, HoD welcomed the gathering. Dr. B. Anirudhan, Principal, Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore delivered the presidential address. Ms. Sujatha of Final Year Student introduced the Resource Person Dr. M. Lilly Florence.

Invited Talk Session

The resource person has delivered a brief lecture about message, information and data. The outburst of the data in this data era needs to be stored and maintained efficiently. The development of Data mining and the need of different algorithms in extracting and analyzing the stored data for a better performance was well explained. The reality of the data mining technique with the real world examples was explained with the simple example. The different stage in the data mining from the scratch till the current development was clearly explained by the resources person. Mohammed Mansoor, Vice- Chairman of FENIX Association proposed the vote of thanks.

Webinar On How To Prepare For Competitive Examinations

 The Webinar on “How to prepare for Competitive Examinations” was conducted on 31.10.2020 at 11.00 am.Dr. N. Kavitha, Convener of the program welcomed the gathering. Dr. B. Anirudhan, Principal, Nehru Arts and Science College delivered the presidential address.

Mr. U.P. Nagaraj, the resource person, addressed the students. He explained the various types of Competitive examinations such as UPSC, PSC conducted by the State Governments, SBI-PO, SSC-CGL etc. with notification and exam date open for our students. In his session, he categorized the examinations suitable for students with various types of skills in the Central and State Government recruitments. He also pointed out that the eligibility, need of skills and keeping mindset during preparation and in the exam hall. He explained about the various modules of the Competitive examinations and suggested the tips used for solving arithmetic problems, Reasoning and General Knowledge with shortcuts.

Outcome of the Event:

The students gathered knowledge on various types of competitive examinations, the jobs listed in each examination and how to equip them to prepare and appear for the examinations.

International Internet Day

 The Department of Computer Science has commemorated the International Internet Day on 29.10.2020 at 10.30am through Google Meet. In this connection, the department has organized a webinar on “The Role of Internet in Post COVID’19”. Mr. M. Arunkarthikeyan, Senior Consultant-Professional Services, FIS Global Solutions, Bangalore was the Chief Guest. The HoD Dr N Kavitha welcomed the gathering. The principal Dr. B. Anirudhan delivered a presidential address. Mr. Mohammed Mansoor, Vice- Chairman of FENIX Association proposed the vote of thanks. About 100+ students are participated and got benefited. The department has conducted the events such as Poster Presentation, Sketching and Poster Presentation for the school children and UG Students. The selected students are awarded with the prizes.

Fenix Association Inauguration

 The FENIX Association was inaugurated on 30-09-2020 through the online platform Google Meet at 10.30 am. Dr. N. Kavitha, HoD welcomed the gathering. Dr. B. Anirudhan, Principal, Nehru Arts and Science College delivered the presidential address. He explained how covid-19 boosted computer technologies across the globe. Mr. Mohammed Mansoor, Vice Chairman- Fenix introduced the chief guest Mr. Dilip Muralidaran and Ms.Aiswarya Rukmini, Secretary – Fenix introduced the guest of honor Mr . Athul Sukumar.

Invited Talk Session

The chief guest delivered a special address on “Introduction to Data Science”. He started the session with the comparison of Big data and data Science. The concepts covered include Why these data cannot be stored and processed by database systems, Challenges of Big Data, Technologies and Tools to analyze such data, the goals and deliverables by a data analyst or data scientist. He demonstrated the generation of reports using Splunk with sample data.

The chief guest delivered a special address on “Introduction to Data Science”. He started the session with the comparison of Big data and data Science. The concepts covered include Why these data cannot be stored and processed by database systems, Challenges of Big Data, Technologies and Tools to analyze such data, the goals and deliverables by a data analyst or data scientist. The guest of honor is an alumnus. He shared his memories and the opportunities he had in NASC. He encouraged the students to identify potential problems for projects from the first semester and work on it so that it can be submitted as a final year project. Ms. D.
