The Department of Visual Communication organized an Online Workshop on ” Macro Photography ” on 27.11.2020 for II UG, I UG and I PG students. Mr.Sridharraj.G, Head & Asst. Professor, Department of Visual Communication welcomed the resource person and the students. The Students of Visual Communication attended the session in the online platform. The resource person gave an brief introduction about macro photography. He explained about the various techniques and tips of a macro lenses for taking a macro photograph. Students also cleared many doubts regarding taking macro photographs in low light conditions. Mr. Sankaranarayanan. K. B, Asst Professor, Department of Visual Communication proposed vote of thanks.
Outcome of the Event
The students were able to understand more deep knowledge about macro photography. They also cleared many doubts regarding the photographs that resource person took in low light conditions.
Kaolin 2020 – Two days National level short film festival was organized by the Department of Visual Communication in Viscom Theater at Nehru arts and Science College on 20th and 21st February 2020. Mr.G.Sridharraj, Head- department of visual communication welcomed the gathering Dr.B.Anirudhan, Principal of Nehru Arts and Science College delivered the inaugural address. Mr. Manoj Dhamodhar is an Indian film Director, who has worked predominantly in Tamil movie industry was the chief guest. He interacted with the students on various aspects of film making and story development. He also asked students to read many novels and other short story books related to scripting and film making. Mr. Anand Menon, is best known as Alex, the protagonist from the sensational Malayalam short film ‘Magneto’. The actor turned director is now completed his maiden directorial venture titled ‘Gauthamante Radham, was the chief guest for the Second session of Day 1. The award winning short films was screened followed by the interactive session with the guest; He shared his experience and knowledge in his first film making with the students. Mr. Mathukutty Xavier is an Indian film Director/Screenplay Writer, who has worked predominantly in Malayalam movie industry. His previous film to hit the theatres was Helen in the year 2019. He was the chief guest for Day 2 of the national fest. He shared his experience as a writer and director and troubles he faced while shooting his first film. Then the short film entries were screened and the chief guest commented on those films. (Tamil Industry) was the chief guest for the second session of Day 2. He shared his experience as editor and asked the students to edit the raw footages as much as possible. Then in the valedictory session the awards were distributed to the selected short film on different categories. In that (Swaach) – a short film directed by was selected as the best short film. Whistle – short film directed by and Homework – short film directed by won IInd and III Prize for best short film respectively. Mr.Yeswanth (Student- Chairman of Kaolin 2020) of III B.Sc Visual Communication proposed vote of thanks.
The Department of Visual Communication organized One day National Seminar in commemoration with “World Radio Day” on 13.02.2020. Mr.Sridharraj.G, Head & Asst. Professor, Department of Visual Communication welcomed the resource person and the students. The Students of Visual Communication attended the session. The resource person explained about the importance of celebrating world radio day. He said that “Radio is powerful medium” and there are many opportunities for students to get job in radio industry. He also insisted that hearing a radio as a routine is like writing a diary. He also gave many inputs to the students regarding reading of books for developing creativity. Mr.Paul.T.Benziker, Asst. Professor, Department of Visual Communication proposed vote of thanks and concluded the event.
Outcome of the Event: The students got knowledge on radio industry.
