Dr. P. T. Ajith Kumar
Dr. P. T. Ajith Kumar is a globally renowned holography scientist and the founder president of Light Logics Holography and Optics, an entrepreneurial venture that is adorned with the ISBA 2009 National Award for the “Most Techno-intensive Engineering- Design Company of India”. He is the only innovator who received two consecutive Gold Medals (2010 and 2011) in the prestigious India Innovation Program, jointly organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, Lockheed Martin (USA), Indo-US Science and Technology Forum, University of Texas at Austin and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Dr. Kumar is the principal investigator of a set of challenging R&D projects, including those of Thermonuclear Fusion, funded by the government of India/ International Companies and Organizations. From 2007 April to till date he has been the leading light and the main technology force of Light Logics Holography and Optics. Before this, from 1991 February to 2007 April, he was the Deputy Director and functioned as a Scientist in the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT), an autonomous R&D and Production Centre under the Government of Kerala, India, and the Leader of the Optical Image Processing Team. In C-DIT he set up the first Security Hologram Production Centre of India, under public sector, which supplied over five billion hologram integrated high security tax stamps to the Kerala Government. It was Dr. Kumar who designed the new generation holographic high security certificates and security documents of the University of Kerala, University of Calicut, Kerala Agriculture University, Kerala Motor Vehicles Department etc. The tax stamp design he made on behalf of C-DIT received the Best Security Hologram Design Award of the Hologram Manufactures Association of India (HoMAI). He was a Senior Research Fellow of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India and received PhD in holographic imaging from the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT); a coveted research oriented Indian University. He is a consultant to leading security holography companies and security Printers of India and abroad.
Dr. Kumar is the Convener of the National Working Group on Optical Security, the Optical Society of India, the representative of India in the International Commission for Optics and the President of AAA-India (Asian Anti-counterfeit Association). He recorded the bust portrait hologram of His Excellency Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, former President of India. Currently he is in the process of setting up of Asia’s first portrait Holography studio under the financial support of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India. Recently he has been selected for the “Outstanding Fellow - Emerging Areas” award by the Government of India.
